Starting this year in STYLE! PDF Print E-mail

Windy has started off the year in style earning two titles in CKC agility: her AGN and AGNJ. She finished her AGN with three first places! Not too shabby for a dog that has not been in agility lessons for over a year and a half.

This past weekend, we made our first trip of the year to the stateside for a little AKC conformation and obedience. Windy came home with her first leg in Novice B Obedience with a score of 186/200. Not bad girly! We are hoping to earn her Bearded Collie Club of America Versatility title this year.

We can't wait to see what this year holds for us!

2010 was GREAT! PDF Print E-mail

What a great year the Aspenvale Bearded Colles have had!

Windy had a very successful year in the performance ring finishing her Canadian CD, CDX and Rally Excellent title. Windy finished her CDX with multiple first placements and a High in Trial. Her Rally Excellent title was completed with multiple High in Classes and a perfect score. She earned her Versatility Award from the Bearded Collie Club of Canada. On top of that, she was the Highest Average Scoring Rally Novice and Advanced dog for 2009. She made her debut in CKC Agility and earned two legs towards her AGN. She is accumulating a litany of letters behind her name!

Miles had an equally great year earning his Pre Novice CD and his Rally Novice title. He also earned one leg towards his AGNJ. In the conformation ring, he earned a 5 point major going WD/BOW at the supported entry at the Monroe KC and picked up four more points state-side beating a Nationally ranked Special along the way.

Sadly, we said goodbye to Griffin on November 18, 2010. In February of this year, we found a cancerous mass on his spleen. Our Veterinarians gave him three months but as always, he surpassed our expectations and we had him for eight more months. I am still finding it hard to put into words what this dog meant to me. He was an amazing teacher and was so patient. I miss him every day.

We're looking forward to 2011 where we can start anew. Windy is in training for her Utility title and we hope to put that prestigious OTCh. in front of her name in the coming months. We're hoping to finish both dogs' AKC Championships next year as well!

We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our crew!

Jaimie, Justin, Miles and Windy St-Maurice

Miles and I had a great weekend in Davisburg, Michigan. Miles picked up 2 points on Saturday going WD and BOW and then 2 more points on Sunday by going WD, BOW and then taking BOS over a Nationally ranked Special. Good boy! Miles needs two more points to finish his American Championship.

The Specialty was awesome event for the Aspenvale Bearded Collies and I wasn't even there!

We were thrilled when Miles took an Award of Merit under judge/breeder David Hyde, Natterjack Bearded Collies. Miles won the Specialty last year but it was wonderful to have him recognized by another breeder/judge. He really is a wonderful dog! Many thanks to Cheryl Poliak, his breeder and handler for this event.

To top it off, Windy earned her Versatility Award. This recognizes the fact that she earned CKC titles in three different areas plus her Herding Instinct Certificate. She also surprised us by winning the Highest Average Scoring Bearded Collie in Rally Obedience in both the Novice and Advanced levels. This was the first year that this award was offered!

Congrats to all the other winners and the organizers of the event!
